Have you asked this question at a carpet store? Carpet installers will often custom wrap stair treads.
Look in the phone book for good quality carpet suppliers, (esp. Oriental-Asian carpets), then start calling and asking if they have them, the type, quality, and price before you even step out of your door. The ones with rods that go across the stair carpet are the best, they let you rotate the wear on the carpets. They are usually brass and look very grand.
