I need some imaginative people to help me figure out what to do with 2x6 leftover fence board pieces.?

Question:The pieces are between 6 and 9 inches long and are brown pressure treated wood. I have a lot of them because I am having a new fence built and hate the thought of just throwing away all this new wood if there is something I could do with them. I am already using the fence post pieces to make Christmas gifts, but can't come up with a creative idea for the 2x6 pieces. Any creative, crafty types out there with an idea for me?

Make some outdoor planter boxes in different shapes and sizes. They don't have to be square and the sizes you describe would look great in a octagon shape most likely. You can either glue them or use long thin nails to put them together or you could drill holes and line them up with dowels. You might also consider cutting them in about the same lengths and use them as borders around flower beds or along the walkway. You could do some funky looking birdhouses...you could make little one-step stools...you could nail some of them to a 2x2 and paint a design or picture, or decoupage an old picture of some kind on them. I'm sure now that you have a few ideas you can come up with a ton more yourself. Have a blast.sounds like lots of fun.

you could paint "Garden" signs on them.
planter boxes, since they are treated..
make a small wishing well or "out house" for your garden..
There is a website, "trash to treasures"...type that in your search bar..
I am a craftaholic but am dead tired from work so my brain isn't up to par at the moment..I never throw wood scraps away.built a wishing well out of scrap 2 x 4's, so I know why your not wanting to toss them too..you can also type in "scrap wood projects" and see what pops up.also go to "ebay" and check out what other people are making in their craft section....have fun.
Make bird houses ~ they are perfectly sized for that.
i can't picture your fence leftovers exactly .. doesn't sound like Picket.. , Maybe Stockade? .. how High?

How About..( I did this with my LeftOver Picket fencing. )
take a piece of Wood and nail it to a leftover piece of fence, right in the Middle, but poking out at the Bottom.
Spike the wood in the Ground to hold up the fence-piece.

Uses: grow Flowering vines and Climbing Veggies on, or to stake tomato plants to..

You could always Offer them up on "FREECYCLE" if you get sick of trying to find a use for them.
At least then, it isn't wasteful, if that's what you're Worried about. . (i say that because,That seems to be the reason i ,mainly, hold onto stuff i don't need anymore . because i don't want to be wasteful... )

Good Luck!
I hope you find an Awesome Use For Them.

Peace,
~Laurie
Remember, outside wood is pressure treated and unhealthy to play around with.
I think maybe you meant 6 to 9 feet not inches?
If so I used some of my fence boards to make a headboard for my bed then painted a tree on one wall and hung bird houses on the tree with leaves from the craft dept at Wal Mart. Got a real birds nest to glue on the wall with a fake bird in it. Hang onto the wood you will be surprised what you can think of to do with them (espcially AFTER you throw them away)
Would the pieces be big enough to make small garden benches? Or even plant stands or patio table. A lot depends on the lengths you have. Definitely something that is going to be outdoors.
