Help please??
Question:where in northern ireland or theuk can you but white solid wooden flooring? we already have laminate but want solid wood. thanks.
Answers:
Shonk...I deal with all types of wood and know of none that is truly white and truly wood.
You must use a hardwood for flooring as soft wood will wear too quickly and will shrink with passing time and leave open joints.
As there are so many new varieties of synthetic tiles available now you may want to consider using tile to achieve the colour and decor scheme you desire. As well, tile is much less costly that quality hardwood flooring these days and less costly to install. It is also less costly to care for.
Good luck with your project.
Look for the reclaimed building suppliers in the yellow pages or on line
I don't know of any white solid woods. However B&Q and those type of places sell wood flooring that is not laminated. It ain't cheap though.
If you have no joy there, then try a local specialised flooring place.
Focus DIY do a very good range of both Laminate and Real Wood flooring.
We've fitted out several rooms with their Real Wood flooring, which is backed by supporting boards in the same way as laminate flooring, and have been absolutely delighted.
It's quick and easy to lay, and looks great.
They don't seem to have stores in Northern Ireland, but there are plenty in Great Britain close to all the main ferry ports.
See: www.focusdiy.co.uk
for details of their stores, and:

for tips on how to lay it.
Top Tip from my own experience: Make sure you have a piece of solid wood and a Lump Hammer, in order to wallop the board edges without damaging them as you knock the pieces together. If you only use the store-supplied fitting tool, it's hard to get a tight fit without either bending the tool or damaging the edges if you hit too hard.
Good luck!
this is the only one i know of that specialise in strip planking (traditional wooden floor)
www.wood-stock.co.uk/
you could try any saw mills. as to white this will depend on the wood some are lighter than others none are white and they will all darken to some degree with age.you will need floor cramps these sit over the floor joists which they grip using a cam action when you tighten them against the planking (using a block to protect the board edge)
their web site is currently being re-built but contact info is there. they are in falmouth cornwall.
