What color should i paint my living room if i have chocolate curtains, and my furniture and pictures are dark?
Question:my coffee table is dark brown and the picture frames are also dark brown. my living room is very small. my color scheme i guess is all brown. what color should i paint the walls.
Answers:
I would stay away from dark colors. you want a light color on your walls- what color is your floor? if it is cream carpet- I would go with the same cream color for the ceiling and pick a general light color that you notice is in all your art- if you have a country decor - and the universal color is a cornflower blue accented in all your pictures - i would pick a shade a little lighter than cornflower blue. if the universal color in all your pictures is forest green- i would pick a pale green for the walls, this way it brings out the colors from your art and ties the room together- good luck
A shade of Orange.
Pink, Orange, Tan.. something warm...
I personally with go with Orange- go to the paint store and check out all the hundreds of swatches and tape them to your wall. See which on looks the best with your curtains and wood.
It doesn't have to be bright orange if your not the wild type... you could get a softer color. But I think bright would look really nice.
A pale blue would look nice with chocolate brown.
I would go for a rust orange color .. It would look really good and offset the browns well
A light shade of flat tan would accent the furniture and woodwork without being too bright.
Sparkling Garnet or Seasoned Acorn (lowe's)
I like a blue and brown color scheme - so I'd paint the walls a blue that contrasts with the curtains - maybe even a teal. Keep it a medium tone - not too pale. Also if the curtains take up a lot of the wall space you can add a strip of the blue color in material (glue or sew) to break it up. A lot depends on color of your couch, chairs, too. They can always be changed using slip covers.
I would say off-white or a very light sandy color. If you paint a room too dark a color, it will make it look smaller. And you already have enough dark-colored accessories in the room.
I would say a light tan or sand color...nothing dark. You can introduce another bright color in accessories...maybe orange or turquoise.
A light or bright color.
dusty rose
peach or coral
butter or lemon yellow
mint or leaf green
aqua or sky blue
lavender
Add some of the same colors in a brighter hue [ raspberry, orange, lemon, lime or kelly green, turquoise, bright purple ]
for pillows, throws, candles, vases, a rug, etc.
IAfter you add some green plants, brass or silver, you could try:
ivory or white
caramel or medium gray
I have soooo many friends that are using the browns as accents to a color scheme. My best friend did her bedroom in turquoise and brown with variations of blues...very chic and fun. My other friend used brown on the walls with variations of green accents. So...blue or green, they are the hottests colors of the moment with brown. Turquoise/Blue will be the one that won't go out of style anytime soon.
