chop off your toes so the length of your feet = width, or multiply length times width if you are asking some 5 grade math
I always use width (in inches) x depth (in inches) / 144 = SF
Lenght of an area or room multiplied by the width ex. 12 feet by 12 feet = 144 sqft
Lenght x Width = sq. ft.
