I have a large fyfestone fireplace in my living room?
Question:I have a large fyfestone fireplace in my living room which I cannot afford to take out. Can anyone advise me on a way to make it more modern looking? Can it be painted?

Why not box it in with sheetrock or wood paneling.
How can you not afford to take it out? Buy a sledgehammer and do it yourself.
I can picture it..there was one in our house when we moved in. I reckon anything you do to it will make it look even more tacky. Sorry.
Seems like you could paint it, you would prolly have to seal it, paint it and seal it again. Ask the home impovement store people, it seems like if people are painting their concrete floors, you can paint anything. good-luck. :)
Why not give it a good scrub with grit sand,and that will make it look new ,i hope this helps you .
