Can you help me remodel my ugly closed in entryway/porch?
Question:I recently purchased an old home. The previous owner closed in a small porch. It is now four ugly walls. One wall is where the front door and a small square window are (front door is not centered, moved almost all the way to the right). The wall opposite that is a door leading to the interior of the house. The other two walls are just that...walls! The room is ugly and basically useless. Can anyone give me suggestions on how to create a "wow" effect as you enter the house? I was toying with idea of french doors leading into the main home, but not sure if that will work b/c there is minimal light in the front porch. I was also thinking about columns but still not sure.
Please help!

Paint! Give it some color! don't b afraid to paint the walls w/ color or EVEN the floor. Then add accents on the doors/etc w/ blinds/curatins/valance/shades... Keep it simple & add a few chairs w/ matching designed cushions... w/ a table or side table to sit & have u'r mornin tea/coffee. Put a designed throw rug down. Add some hanging interior lights or put up some track lighting to brighten if u want but the color alone should make it pop. Make the porch part of u'r house... that's how it could b inviting.
If u want to add French doors to u'r house, that would nice but ck. w/ u'r codes in u'r area. I think he front door may b different than the back area.
B creative & have fun!
I think the french doors would look great, even without a lot of light. A wow ceiling light fixture would be good maybe ( depending on your style, maybe like a vintage type looking thing with some sparkle to it). I would keep the rest of it fairly uncluttered looking, maybe a cool rug and make sure the walls have a light, clean cheery look to compensate for the lack of light. have fun:)
paint the wall a light color
