Question re: floating candles?
Question:I want to float candles in a spa for a party (obviously we will not be using the spa). When I tried floating candles in a pool once the wax got into the pool, the candles went out, and they were supposed to be floating candles. Anyone have experience with floating candles, tips to offer?
Answers:
Well you're supposed to have a floating base to put the candle in so that the candle itself doesn't get wet. You can buy them anywhere they sell candles, or you can make them out of material that has a lower density than water. Also, the candles shouldn't be any higher than 2 and 1/2 inches so that the weight doesn't cause the candle to topple over. Remember, it IS ok to have to change the candles during the party. You're better off doing that then constantly worrying about whether or not the candles fell over. You'll figure something out, though. Good luck!
dont get the wick wet
the water has to b still... they make floating candles jst for the water & u mite try candle shops for items that u could put the candles in to help them stay afloat longer. Tea lights will float as well... but then again.. back to the the water needs to b still.
You can buy oil floating candles, basically the kit comes with a wick, clear plastic base, and you use your own cooking oil. This might be a good alternative to wax in a spa.
Also, some of the plastic tealights can float, but the water would have to be pretty still.
good luck!
