What is the best way to remove vinyl tiles fom a bathroom floor?
Question:There are at least 2 layers of vinyl tile down there now. I have to remove them because I will be installing a ceramic tile floor and the floor will be too high if I do not. With a heat gun, is there any chance of the tiles catching fire, or is it just not that hot?

It is that hot! be carefull. This is what I did, Get an old towel, and an iron. I put the towel down and Ironed it on high. They just lifted off! And my tiles have been there since 1978! I did however have a spare Iron,and used that. It didn't hurt the iron, so if I did it again, I would use the better one!It gets hotter! That's an easy way if you want to try it. Bye
Lots of heat. I used a propane torch but a good heat gun would also work. a large putty knife also helps. Work each tile one at a time. The tiles can catch fire, so be careful.
How easily the tiles come out depends on the type of glue used below when they were fixed. You could use a hair dryer on max. heat setting if they come off easily else you would have to go for a source with stronger heat.
