I am giving my room a makeover and i know i want the colors to be brown and blue.any advice?
Question:the room is pretty big.
Answers:
Can you paint the room? If so, paint 3 of the walls one color and have the 4th wall be the other color. If you do this, you should probably use the darker color as the accent- otherwise it might shrink your room. (Or, if you have more than 4 walls in your room, pick one to be the accent.) You could also paint all the walls blue and paint a few stripes of brown in various widths horizontally at about halfway up the wall. Then find a cool comforter or duvet with complimentary colors- maybe try one like this:

.. It really just depends on what shades of blue and brown you want to use, and what patterns you like. Hope this helps. Just have fun with it! :)
brown and blue colors are not match colors..
The colors you are using are great! I would use a beige backdrop. Like your carpet, drapes etc. Sounds lovely!
I saw a room in those colors and it was so pretty. The walls were painted a light copper color with white trim. The accent colors were navy and a very pale yellow. It was very classy. What pulled it all together was that copper colored paint. It was probably a designer color.
AWSOME!! so r u going for more modern or what? My idea is>>> paint opposite walls brown then other opposite walls blue..like lt blue. THEN put stripe(s) about 3/4 way up. Measure off from ceiling.. u'll need a pencil/level/measuring tape & blue tape. Use u'r level to make it strait & level.. mark w/ pencil all the way around room. Then take u'r blue tape.Place the tape ABOVE the mark.. then follow the blue tape down next to ea other til u have several blue tapes.. like 5-6. Now if u want 1 big stripe... leave the bttm tape & take off all the middle ones. IF u want several stripes then take off the 2nd one & every other after.
Paint inside the tape w/ the opposite color that u used on the wall.. Brown use lt blue. If u want 2 add a 3rd color for accent then do one stripe.
Doing the stripe 3/4 way up, will give the apperance that the room is taller than it is.
Then do u'r curtains/in opposite of the wall color or if u can find a really neat print or make them, that would b kewl.
B creative & have fun!
i disagree with mariz. people in France have been using brown and blue schemes for ages and it looks fabulous if it's done correctly with balance. in America they've added a fresh new spin on it making the blues more playful - bringing a contemporary feel to the scheme
