What is the best way to soundproof a room with everyday available materials?
Question:I want to sound proof my garage to some extent, and was wondering if there are any materials that are commonly found and low cost, that i could use to keep noise from inside the garage from bothering my neighbors.

The legendary fix for "garage bands" everywhere, EGG CARTONS! The paper ones are less of a fire risk than plastic and can be sprayed with a borax solution for even better fire proofing. RScott
Hey, the early disc jockeys used egg cartons. I'd look for the large panel types, that look like a tray, commonly used for 3 dozens. Ask around at the bakeries.
styrofoam or fibreglass insulation
u can use those foam mattress pads they look like "egg crate"
well, there is a sound proofing paint that is available.
other than that i would suggest heavy foam backed with cardboard.
