Have bars on my windows need tall vs deep ac window unit, HELP?
Question:I need to find an window ac unit to put in my apartment. The problem is that I have a first floor apartment with bars on the windows. So there is a shallow amount of room between the window and the bars. My window is huge and can open to about 3 1/2 feet by 3 feet. It is a two bedroom apartment. Any suggestions? IT IS HOT!

You are in need of someone to do a job of duct work for you --
Get a standard a/c of the proper size to cool your apartment --- and have someone install it in a somewhat similar way as normal -- only difference being the need for a duct-work application to "fit it" to your needs !! A little expense--but considerably less than a "specialized" a/c !!!
Just this year I saw a portable air conditioner for sale at Walmart for about $110. I don't know how well they work. I do know you don't have to put them in a window.
