I need to make my cabinets darker?
Question:I would prefer to stain them. They are brand new honey oak color. I want to make them darker. I think staining my be the best way as I think painted cabinets look bad. I'm not sure how to proceed. Any pros out there who can help?

Check into the free workshops Home Depot has they might have one on staining.
If you are trying to stain them, you will need to get down to the bare wood. Staining over old varnish or stain usually doesn't work. If you try to sand them down, you are looking at an enormous amount of work.
