What would make u nervous about doing business with a salesrep that sells windows/siding ?
Question:I sell in the home and I do a very good job but was interested what the community would have to say
Answers:
I think that as a homeowner I would be reluctant to buy from you if you were a door to door salesman, but if I were to buy from someone they must have a lasting first impression, knowledge of their product, and know how to communicate with me and not try to sell me something that I said I did not need, but it is always to have an incentive to get me to consider the purchase
Any company that does not have a street address (showroom) and particularly if they require any "upfront" money (before the project is done) should raise red flags.
Pressure to make a decision right then and there (which I understand is probably your job as a salesman), but that turns me off right away. Especially if its a "this price is only for today" deal.
I agree with Lady Beatrice to an extent on the whole office address/showroom thing. I also find it to be unnerving when sales people continue to pressure for me to commit to a purchase/contract when I express that I'd like more time to consider their estimate and compare to others. It makes me think that either 1)They know that they don't have a product/price/service to offer that will compare to competitors or 2)They're being dishonest in some way.
All of the above PLUS - treat women with respect. We are a growing segment of homeowners. Nothing is worse than a salesman coming in & treating you like you're an idiot. When I used the word "plumb", one salesman asked me how I knew such a technical word. Nearly every man in my family is a carpenter by trade. That guy got the boot!
