Well the answer can be really simple. You can use any off the shelf LED flashlight or similar product that is very abundant and cheap at a local store. To make light is very inexpensive with the use of an LED, you just need to have a little creative thought in how to. If you are somewhat handy, you can take the flashlight apart and use any small wall transformer that comes with some electronic device to power the flashlight instead of batteries. These wall adapters are laying around everyones house so you probably have one already. Just make sure the voltage is 3 - 5 Volts DC and the current is in the low mA range. The LED flashlight displays on the package how many batteries it takes like 3AA = 1.5V per battery which would be 4.5vdc. The light should have a resistor built in so it won't hurt your 3.00 light. The transformer also displays the voltage on its label so try to stay around this value. The Transformer will also display the + and - leads so you just have to match up the wires to the proper polarity of the battery and viola! LED light displays through your fiber and you saved big $$ not having to buy the expensive illuminator! Hope this helps!!

fiber optics will transmit all frequencies of light but the whiter the light the better.
