Installing laminate flooring - pulling up carpet in basement - concrete floors underneath?
Question:How much work is there in preparing the concrete? Cleaning?
Do you need to make sure it is level?
Also, does anyone have any idea of labor cost for installing 600 sq ft of laminate - removing old carpet and prep- pretty basic area. Just a ball park idea? I know labor cost vary but I have had some wild numbers thrown at me. I am purchasing the flooring and whatever else is necessary. I appreciate the assistance.

We had carpeting pulled up in our rental cottage. Under was concrete. We obviously cleaned up the concrete (sweep/vacuum) and put down a layer padding substance that the laminate floor store sold us. We installed the laminate on top of the concrete, and it worked/is working flawlessly.
We used a bamboo flooring because we were conscious about the environment. We read a bit on www.getwithgreen.com about flooring and other items. Good luck!!
if you floor is level then all you have to do is sweep.labor should be from .89 cents to 1.25 a square foot for labor.pulling up carpet and remove the tacks is easy.I did my bedroom and front room my self. i was sketchey about it at first but once i got going it was easy.
I had hardwood installed at grade (in AZ) and sub flooring was installed -bolted into concrete after removal of carpet. I think above did not include this step.
