Need ideas for home office desk?

Question:I would like to turn a bedroom into a home office. The room has eather a window or door on every wall. My thought was to make a desk out of a fermica counter top. I would like it to be "L" shaped. Can you buy a countertop that would look like that or will one have to be cut?

Check with your local home improvement store. I think it would have to be cut, but there's the possibility that they may have seconds that were cut for a specific job and then didn't fit that you could use. If the windows don't come down too far on the wall, you could put the desk underneath them. In years past, I made a nice desk using two 2-drawer file cabinets and a hollow core door that was cheap because they'd drilled the hole for the door knob in the wrong place. I put the hole to the back and used it for routing computer cables up from underneath.
