Color question?
Question:I need help! My couches are an odd sage green/greyish color. We had painted the walls a light green color a while ago but it makes the couch look really washed out (they are only 2 years old & in great shape). We have cathedral ceilings, beams, a brick fireplace, and 4 archways that lead into the kitchen (so the kitchen has to be painted the same color) Anyone have any suggestions on what color or colors to paint?! Anything but neutral beige or white! (btw we have hardwood floors and cherry cabinets if that helps)
Answers:
How about a nice red brick color? I find that so attractive. You could do half and half by repainting the wall a darker sage and put the brick color in the kitchen. Or, you could just paint one wall darker sage green or brick and then the rest the lighter sage. I totally agree with you; no white or beige. That would ruin the gray in the couch.
Just a suggestion but it sure sounds pretty to me and I have seen this in the newer homes.
The couch is looking washed out because of the gray in it. Perhaps some throw pillows of a darker gray or green would help some as well.
Best wishes. I love to decorate. You are so lucky to have hardwood floors.
You could do a dark brown accent wall and paint the rest of the walls stark white. A light blue would also compliment the green nicely.
I would say a light brown color
what about a shade of french vanilla? It is subtle but not to subtle. It may even liven up that couch.
i like isabella's idea of french vanilla. benjamin moore makes a paint called french manicure and it's a neutral however if you sponge practically any other 2nd color on top of it it becomes all sophisticated and attractive
I would contrast your green with a clay pot or warm red of some kind, if you have a nice big space it can take a lot of color. If your fireplace is a reddish brick, pick a tone that is complimentary but not too close in tone. either go some shades darker or lighter.
The contrast should make your sofas pop.
