How do I decorate a windowless room for a 13 year old girl?

Question:The room is an attic room...that is windowless and dark...but we can add more lights.the room is unpainted..well semi-unpainted.the walls are dirty and the carpet is horrific..HELP ME!

Answers:
Install a ceiling fan with lots of lights ~ this will keep the hot air from collecting up there, provide better circulation, and add some lighting.

Paint the walls a light pastel ~ yellows, light greens, light blues, or light pink are excellent choices. Paint the trim off white to keep things bright and clean looking.

Light colored carpet of course...unless you have a wooden floor up there. Then, you can paint the floor with a dandy floor paint and then put a couple of colorful room rugs up there to add even more interest.

I will say however, for safety sake, hire someone to put a window in that attic! If you have a fire in that house, your child might not be able to make it to the stairs and will be trapped. Installing a window is not that expensive ~ you can even DIY if necessary.

first, paint the walls for sure! maybe purple or blue or pink or whatever color she likes. Make the room pretty girly, but not like over the top. good luck!
There is a lot you can do. But if your daughter wants at least the look of a window you could paint one on the wall with a scene of trees or whatever she likes. You could even put a blind over it. Or what ever she likes just do her room in those colours and theme.
Paint the room in a light color, not white. Add a framed mirror. It will enhance the lighting and obscure the fact that there is no window. Use bright colors for linens and dont forget to add an area rug. I recommend to Mary Kate and Ashley Collection. Check out the collection at www.shawfloors.com. If you like what you see email us at sunrisecitycarpets@yahoo.com I can have rugs shipped directly to you for exceptional prices.
Well, seriously, I'm not trying to tell you what you ought to do. But..I believe that it's against regulation to have a bedroom for any member of your family that has only one exit to it (in case of fire). You may want to put a window in for safety reasons. Plus, that ought to brighten things up considerably :o)! Then a bit of elbow grease to clean up the dirt and dust, some lights. Paint the area that's liveable, put up curtains or dry wall across the areas that you want to section off so that she doesn't have to look at the rest of the attic. Then it practically becomes a new room for the house!
Well you could always hang yards of fabric draping from the ceiling to make it prettier. If the walls need cleaning go out and buy some TSP. It is a brand name of a cleaning product, it is very good for cleaning walls. You could always go buy a "window mirror" it is a mirror that is framed, has a little sill and has a cross mark in it like a window. The mirror will make it look bigger and will make it look like it has windows. I have one, but I got it a long time ago and I do not remember where I got it.
There is a wallpaper (seen in Potpourri catalog), it is an open window. Very bright, with curtains! You can use this and with a neutral paint (linen color would be pretty, replace carpet with offwhite or light sage, use pink linens, white furniture and lavendar, pink, sage pillows and that color scheme would make a lovely teenage room. Even finding a wall decor of a fence with flowers growing, (I have one in my shop), you can
put on wall at head of bed, with just box springs, mattress on platform have a very pretty bed, bright, colorful attic bedroom!
Just throwing in a thought...There are places that sell wall murals of windows. I know for sure that Lowe's has them in their wallpaper aisle. They are not expensive since they dont cover the whole wall. I would put a few of those in there, unless you have a big budget, then you could have a painter come in and do it.
