I would portion the wall off with a straight edge into diffent rectangles or sqares and run a masking tape line along your lines, paint each section a bright primary color. You can cut out characters from a large wallpaper border and use heavy duty wallpaper paste to attacher's them to the wall Or if you have posters with larger figures on them ask the paint store about decoupaging them to the wall.
You might be able to get posters donated by a local theater of Harry potter or penguins or something. Pic one theme and spread it around. Say you pic a penguin them. Place the penguins at different locations and heights around the area. Remember that in nature things are randomly arranged.
What about painting popular cartoon characters that can be holding or touching parts of the blackboard...or a night/day theme with the sun and clouds on one side and stars/moon/comets, etc on the other with the blackboard in the middle. Or, one more, I promise...paint a large blackboard section which would be the "underground" and above it a scene of flowers-maybe a park scene with the sky above and let the kids draw creatures under the earth with chalk. Ok, out of ideas finally. lol
yes you could paint flowers or a bus with blackboard windows or a field with animals with blackboard bodies or ask yhe kids they will have ideas
