DIY loft conversion?
Question:Want to convert loft into room or storage space.
Will be widening loft entrance for some type of ladder and just laying floor for starters(will get mate to set up a light and power supply socket)
Any websites out there or advice on flooring as I have heard that a room and storage in loft are different procedures

It is difficult, especially if you have little or no experience, the fllor should be strengthened, the normal joists are only to hang a ceiling on, not strong enough for footfall!
if your wanting to make a bedroom out of your loft space i think your ceilings have to be fire proof !! dont quote me on that but a mate of mine was gonna do it and when the cost went over £10,000 he decided against the idea.
plus your new floor has to be a floating floor, ie. not touching the joists. think you can use a supporting wall for a beam though.
ps. im in my loft, all floor boarded lights heater carpet fridge compy... its ace to get away from the wife for a while.
