Best website ever is www.behr.com got to the website and look at the "explore color" tab. It really has some great ideas!

Behr paint is really expensive so find a color you want and match that to a cheaper brand. At least that's what I do.

-Good luck-

white and sky blue
use pastels.
the colour you like the most. It should mainly be a light colour like light blue, light green or lavender
Well it depends on you furniture. I would say a nice sun set color. Not real bright. Like a golden rod. You can accent things in your room with white, black, gold, sage green.
If you paint it all one very light color it will smooth out the breaks a bit. It should be a pleasing color to you, but lighter colors will tend to make it appear larger. Also it should blend with the kitchen color since it leads into the kitchen. Maybe the same color as the kitchen but a lighter shade, or a complimentary color. For example if your kitchen is yellow, the complimentary color for that is violet, so a very light shade of lavender would blend well.
So much depends on your furniture, flooring, and any major accent peices you may have. personally I like to stick with a soft neutral color for the majority of the room(not white too stark) like a sand or soft brown or dove grey then maybe paint the small feature wall with a bold accent color like red or yellow or bright blue depending on your tastes and room accents. My living room is done in a warm sand color then we have a chimmney that runs right up the middle of the wall and I've painted it in rose and sponged the sand color over it for a focal point. I've added a few small knic knac shelves in the same rose as accents and it looks very warm and inviting and is perfect for relaxing and entertaining. Good luck with your new look and remember you can always change it again!
