Answers: Here's a simple suggestion:
1. Find a locksmith on www.roar.com or in the phone book.
2. Ring them and ask them.
You'll probably requirement a new door, as most internal doors are not sturdy ample to have 'proper' locks fitted.
100 quid for door, 50 quid for lock, 200 to fit lock & door.

A 2 lever lock is sufficient for an internal door lock. These can be bought from as little as lb5 but can be much more depending on kind.
You will need a sledge hammer and chisel, and a screwdriver to DIY so if you haven't already got these price them into the employment. Cheap tools will cost you about lb10 and it wil probably lift you a couple of hours to do it. You must be accurate with your measure and positioning or the door will not close/lock
A handyman will charge about lb30 but you will still call for to buy the lock. He should have his own tools.
A locksmith will charge more or less lb50 plus call out charge which will oscillate from lb50-100 depending on where you live and how urgently you want it done.

Find a local jobbing man to do it and he will charge about one and a partly hours labour. That should be just about lb30. You buy the lock and give it to him to do the fitting. Otherwise they try to charge extra for the lock as capably as the labour which will include going out to buy the lock. I would do it for you for the lb30 if you lived implicit by. try to get it done by someone similar to your friends or family because locksmiths can be greatly expensive costing you in excess of lb120 onwards.
