I need help! Just removed wallpaper & found bare drywall!?

Question:I am going to paint my bathroom and discovered after removing the wallpaper that there is just bare drywall underneath. Do I have to texturize the wall before I paint? What do I use?

Answers:
use Zinseer products for your bathroom, 1st use there 123 water based primer/sealer for your bare sheetrock, 2nd lightly sand with 150 grit sand paper and mud any imperfections in your sheetrock and final coat use their mildew resistant bathroom paint and your in great shape for 5 yrs, yes it's guaranteed against mildew for 5 yrs, Good luck Les the painter

Well, if it was me, I would definitely use a good primer/sealer, preferably one that is mildew and mold resistant, made for the bathroom. I would use two good coats, and make certain every pore, crack, seam, etc was coated quite well! Then I would use a top quality mildew/mold resistant paint. GL
Oy vey. This is the kind of person that asks advice from the people who work at Home Depot.
Please make sure that you have all the wallpaper residue off your walls before you do any painting. Try to use natural light to check your walls. If you paint over any glue, your walls will look horrible. Typically for walls that have been painted,
D-I-F mixed with water is used to remove the paste. If you have no paste, Spackle and sand any imperfections. Make sure to use a tack cloth to remove any dust from walls.
Definitely prime your walls. Use the highest grade of paint in your favorite line. Tint it, if you are painting a dark color finish coat.
I personally like to use Benjamin Moore and Sherwin Williams. You may pay more for higher priced paints, but it is well worth it.
It gives better coverage, is more saturated in color, goes on easier, cleans up better and drys thicker than less expensive ones. Therefore, it lasts longer.
What you save in paint, you make up for in labor. The higher priced paints also have more additives, specific to mildew.

Good luck.

OOPS. I did not see the painters answer. I am not disputing his paint line.
If the joints are finished go ahead and paint.
