Bamboo, Hardwood, Laminate and peeing cat?

Question:We currently have a cat who loves to pee on our carpets. We just purchased a condo and want to put in some sort of floor that would be most resistant to his "accidents". Which would withstand this the best. I'm hoping he won't pee on floors (I think he does it because he knows the carpet will hold his scent) but if he does, I want the best for this situation.

Answers:
The best choice of the 3 you noted is the laminate ,for the resons that have already been noted.
As for your cat , I had the same situation with my cat , I replaced all of my carpeting with laminate and found that she no longer peed on the floor . Cats by their very nature are clean animals and feel the need to "cover up" their pee so they think they can cover with the carpet (feels to them like grass ,etc) but they know they can't cover anything with the smooth surface of laminate so they opt for the litter box.
good luck to you and your kitty

cat pee will take the varnish off of the flooring. You need set off pads for yer kitty. Any pet store will have em...hope this helps
laminate because it isn't porous...then buy a gallon of ''nature's miracle'' when he does pee...this will break down the pee and the smell will be gone...is your cat fixed? if not get him fixed, this is suppose to help him stop marking his territory. cat pee is one of the worst smells to get rid of and it is also one of the hardest habits to break
The best flooring would be the laminate flooring for the easiest clean up. Once the carpet is removed you need to wash and seal the floor before installing the new flooring if you have a concrete sub floor. If you have a wood sub floor then a good oil based primer should be used to paint the floor. The reason is because the cats scent is also on the sub flooring and if you do not seal or paint the odor will always linger and cause problems.
Cat piss is like acid. It will eat trough the finish.
You might have to retrain on using the litter box.
Natures miracle is also a nice product to have around.

It will leave black stains that wont come out of the wood.
