Remove old wall paper or not?
Question:i am going to put new wall paper in my lounge at the moment i have just plain backing papper and have just been emultioning it for the past few years because i liked the plain modern look but now i want some pattern on my walls i dont know if i should leave old backing paper on or removeit incase it bubbles pleas give me some advice thank you

If the paper was hung vertically then remove it because the top paper seams could land on the seams below and look bad. If there are no bubbles at the moment, the paper will tend to go back after papering over.
Some papers must be hung on lining paper so the walls need lined horizontally.
Remove it - if a job is worth doing, it is worth doing properly. You can always tell when old paper has been left on the wall...mingin'!
I would take it off. At least then you wouldn't have to worry about it bubbling. Imagain how you'll feel if you're nearly finished then it starts to bubble...
Remove all old paper and start afresh, you will only regret it half way through papering.
It is best to remove the old wall paper.
I'd remove it - it may take longer but you don't want to waste money and time by having to redo the job if it doesn't look right. xx
For a better finish it's always best to remove the old paper before re-papering. Preparation is the most important part of producing a good finish. I would recommend hiring a steamer to remove the old paper as it will take half the time. You will need to 'size' the walls first with a weaker solution of walpaper paste to give a good backing to the pasted wallpaper when hanging it. Just follow the mixing instructions on the back of the paste mix.
Romove it first, it may be a pain in the bum, as you have to take it all off, then put the paper on, but will be well worth it, as oppossed to getting halfway through, and finding that you have bubbles, then having to start again - Happy Decorating!
Remove old stuff as nearly all paper now has backing.
It will most likely bubble if you don't.Also size wall, put paste on wall before putting new paper on.Then the paper slides better, this will not happen if your old paper is still on.
best to take IT off mate
If the wall is sound underneath i would remove it , otherwise leave it on.
