Anything that can be used to fix stratches in hard wood floords?
Question:My mom & dad have these beautiful hard wood floors and they scratch so easily. They have 2 dogs, 1 thats a lab & has left tons of stratches already (they only moved in 9 months ago). Is there anything you can do to fix stratches/fill them in or make them less obvious? thanks

Yeah,...your going to have to sand the scratches out. Rent a floor sander at the MegaBox home improvement place and it won't be a huge job. A day to do the sanding, a day to stain (if your going to) and a day to "varnish". I put varnish in quotes because most people use polyurethane which, in my humble opinion, makes a wood floor look like a plastic laminate floor. REAL varnish looks much, much better in that it give your floors the warm glow of old hardwood. Having said that, i would only add that, dogs and hardwood floors do not go well together. You absolutely have to keep your dogs toenails cut all the time and keep your floors properly waxed to eliminate the scratching. Even if you elect to poly the floors you'll have to keep the dogs toenails cut or they'll go right through it. It's probably worth it.
they have wood repair pencils (sorta waxy, fills the hole and come in all different colors) but evetually it will wear away. only permanent solution is to sand, refinish and polyurethane again
If they are down to the wood first wipe with stain that is the same color. After that wipe with some Minwax wipe on polly. It's avalable at any home store next to the stains.
you can get this thing i think its called chip chalk or something like that, it is basicaly a chalk and it comes in multiple colours and you just basicaly colour in the chips. never used it personaly but saw it on the net.
For a simple, easy, cheap fix:
Get crayons that match the area of the floor. Color in the scratches, then use a blow dryer on high heat to set the wax. Then rub the wax to remove the extra wax.

If you get the wood staining paint and you get a towel and just dab the paint into the scratches it will make it less obvious.
