How to Hang Wallpaper Border on a staircase?
Question:I am having proplems with the angles of the border any tips please.
Answers:
get a plank of wood mark the required height dig a groove in it and lay your pencil in the groove slide the plank up the skirting holding the pencil in place then you have the line to follow xx
1.2m is an average height for a dado/border, so lets say you're at the top of the stairs having come along horizontally at 1.2.m. at the top tread of the stairs i presume is where you want to change the angle? At the bottom of the stairs is where you want to continue horizontally again . mark the wall to determine the angle. Offer the unpasted piece that you want to run diagonally down the stairs at the angle you have marked at the top of the stairs ,and where it crosses with your horizontal border and the top edge and bottom edge intersect, that is the angle it needs to be cut (with straight edge and craft knife) and both waste pieces removed should leave you with a perfect butt joint, to create the dog-leg. try and get the pattern to match the best you can first. Changing the angle will never be perfect. good luck. email me if your still not sure and I'll try and draw some sort of diagram
Use some double sided tape, and stick it along the line you want to glue. Then cut a little bit longer than the length needed. Once you get it on with the glue, you can trim to fit the corners with an exacto knife, or carpet knife or box cutter..
