I Need Paris Decor Help?
Question:No Not Paris Hilton.
I Already Have Picture Frames & A Clock/Frame That's All About Paris
But What Should I Do About The Walls?
Where Can I Get A Comforter?
& What Not
Answers:
From what I remember about Paris...French doors, duvet
covers, iron, glass, creams and whites, standing mirrors
on the ground, armoires for closets. I would paint the walls
a very rich cream color and hang glass framed posters of
the Eiffle Tower, Louvre, Metro Architecture around.
Try to find some ornate grill work to either hang on the
walls or to use behind your bed. Try putting your bed
directly on the floor (bohemian style) and covering it
with a matching cream color duvet and plenty of king
sized pillows. It's much cheaper to just buy the flat
sheets and make everything out of these. If you can
find an old chandellier, you can buy individual crystals
to hang from it and repaint it in subtle pastels. If you
don't want to re-wire this, put candles in it instead.
You can get comforters at Walmart and slip them
in between your duvet covers. Try going to a flea
market and finding a base (could be an old rattan trunk)
for a coffee table and a piece of thick glass to go over
it. I did this once and filled the center with old seashells).
This ought to give you a start. You can strip down an
old armoire and lightly rub in watered down off white
paint for that old Paris look too. If your place is small,
try finding odd used chairs with arms and fairly graceful
lines. These can be stripped too...left that way and you
can make pillows for the seats out of pieces of old
brocade.flea market like crazy for this look.
on walls: stripes, like navy blue, i think would look cute with your Paris decor.
years ago I saw on one of those decorating shows where they painted the skyline around the top of a room, or you could paint it mid up..that woudl be cool and distinctive for Paris!!
My home is accented with nick-knacks I got from Paris. (paintings, Eiffel tower things, portraits). I just accent with them..too much is overwhelming! I'd paint a neutral color, use a solid bedspread and then accent with Eiffel tower throw pillows, arc de triumph paintings etc. (I probably misspelled half of these words..sorry)! Good luck!! *you could always google French decor
for the walls pick a common Paris color but on the smallest wall wallpaper it with a color that looks alot like the paint to be interesting
