You could probably find a wallpaper border with a music theme. I'm not sure exactly how you want it to "look better." Is there carpet? If not, you might want to add an area rug. You should also consider putting in a comfy chair in case you want to sit and look through your music before you start playing. Maybe a flower arrangement or something for the top of your piano and some ivy on top of the wardrobe. You could hang pictures that have to do with music. Also add a shelf or end table or something where you can put music related knick-knacks.
Paint the walls in a soft shade of neutral and than get a stencil of music notes (or something music related, make a stencil if you have to). Than take the stencil and apply to the wall in a glaze paint that is a shade or two darker than the wall color. You will have a very subtle classy look that supports the music theme without overpowering the room. Use material in neutral tones and an area rug to help pull the colors together. Make the room have interest by adding a splash of color here and there with your accessories, like vases and throw pillows and such.
Depends on your taste, decide what you want, neutral, bright, classic, modern ? Choose a colour which makes you feel optimistic, such as a sunny lemon or soft green. You could stencil, or buy music themed prints to hang. It's hard to advise without knowing persoanl taste. Go to your local library for some ideas or collect free samples from DIY stores.
Instead of stenciling on the wall, i would find 3 dimensional music notes and hang them. You always want to add dimension and texture to the room.
Also, add alot of greenery, this will really make the room feel alive.
I would think of a cabaret and think of things you like from that theme, and incorporate your inner self with something to the cabaret feel.
