Are there under-desk keyboard trays that would attach under my desk's skinny drawer?

Question:I have a regular desk that fits me so well that I would like to use it for my computer. I would need to add a pull out shelf/tray for a keyboard, though, and the desk has one long drawer that I'd still like to use. Are there pull out keyboard trays/shelves that attach in a way that would let me still use the drawer?

Answers:
It's not shown on the IKEA website, but the SUMMERA pull out keyboard tray is available at the store, if one is local. It mounts underneath your work surface, I guess you could mount it under the drawer if the drawer is enclosed in the desk frame. I would not recommend mounting a keyboard shelf directly to the bottom of your drawer, drawer bottoms are generally too thin and that keyboard shelf will rip right out after a few pulls/pushes.

Be aware that mounting a keyboard shelf to the frame underneath your drawer will cause it to be too low in relation to your seat for comfortable and healthy keyboard use. You may find an adjustable seat that can be lowered enough to keep the proper arm/wrist angle... but then you run the risk of having the seat too low for your legs.

Good luck!
