Is it okay to install hardwood floors in the kitchen?
Question:
Answers:
Sure it is! The only worry that I would have would be a damaged water line or something that would cause the floor to be ruined.
yes and it looks fabulous!
It's not the greatest choice, but you can do it. Just make sure they have a very durable finish.
absolutely, however there is lots of sanding involved and a varnishing so you will want to tape off other rooms and cabinets or they will be covered in film! good luck in your project!
sure it's ok we have hardwood floors in our kitchen
it wont be much of a problem but when you sppill a liquid look what happens.
It's okay, but hard to maintain. Leaks from sinks or pipes might cause water stains. Oil splatters on the floor means you gotta wash the floor after, and that might ruin the wood. You'd want a kitchen floor that's easy to maintain where you can just mop it off after cooking, or spray something on it to remove dirt and stains. With wood, you just have to be a little bit more careful.
I had hardwood floors in the kitchen but not the work space of the kitchen (tiled) in the house I just moved from. The house I just moved into had hardwood floors in the whole kitchen. There is a rug on the floor in the work space of the kitchen. I consider the work space to be stove, sink, refrigerator triangle. It's nice.
I agree with Sarah. If the plumbing bust or leaks any, the floor will welp up and have to be replaced. (Which isn't cheap)
YES, HOWEVER ...
USE UNFINISHED AND FINISH IT YOURSELF. OTHERWISE YOU WILL HAVE EXPOSED CRACKS/GAPS BETWEEN THE BOARDS THAT ARE SUSCEPTIBLE TO ANY SPILLED LIQUID AND COULD RESULT IN WARPING. FINISHING IT YOURSELF SEALS THE ENTIRE SURFACE. IF YOU HAVE AN "IN THE DOOR" ICE AND WATER DISPENSER IN YOUR FRIG (AND ESPECIALLY IF YOU HAVE KIDS) PUT A GOOD SIZED RUBBER BACKED RUG IN FRONT OF THE FRIG. IT WILL CATCH MOST ALL THE EXIT SPILLS THAT WILL OCCUR. AND I REPEAT "WILL" OCCUR ..
(SAME THING WITH IN FRONT OF YOUR SINK, DOG WATER BOWLS, ETC.) OTHERWISE IT IS A BEAUTIFUL CHOICE ...
sure itll look great.
