I am trying to get rid of my sofa set. It's still in a usable condition...?
Question:but there are some old food and wine stains. I called Goodwill. They won't take it unless it's in a clean and sellable condition. I don't want to spend $300 on 1800GOTJUNK. Any ideas?
Answers:
Contact local churches. Goodwill is getting ridiculous on all of their policies. You could also try the salvation army, homeless shelters etc. Or put an ad in the paper free sofa set.
craigslist.com
Donate it.
Call 1-800-got-junk
Contact students at your local college, the resident students will be all over it like a pack of rabid wolves.
check out freecycle.com if you wanna give it away or habitat for humanity
try calling your citys trash company/program thing, where i live, you are allowed 5 or so large pickups a year, so you can call your trash company and they will come to your house and pick it up
craigslist.com,pick your location and post.I sold my car in less than 15 hrs.13yr old at that AND the engine was about to blow, which I stated,AND had 170,000 miles! If I could sell that which was a BIDDING war,you can sell your couch!Worth a try,anyway...
Try cleaning the stains then have a yard sale and try to sell it. Or put a sign out if you are donating it , Free/Sofa Set
or
call department of Family Services maybe they know some one that needs furniture.
ask at your church or
have someone at at theirs.
Good Luck to you
I just set mine by the curb with a free to a good home sign. It was gone by the end of the week.
You live in town? We take useable, unwanted anything to the curb and put a 'free' sign taped on it. It is gone to someone who wants it and you didn't have haul it.
Why do you give it to charity, for someone that can't afford a brand new sofa, They would appretiate that much more, and you will feel good within yourself for giving to charity.
Put it on the curb and it will be gone in a couple of hours. Someone will need it and take it.
Have you considered buying slipcovers to put on it? Then maybe goodwill would take it?
