I need help with something can you help me?
Question:My husband recently put hardwood floor in the house but I am wondering what or how to clean the hardwood floor so it can stay shiny brand new.
If you help me with this I'll give you 10 points. Greatly appreciate answers.
Answers:
My sister uses vinegar in water. Just damp, not wet.
Hers looks beautiful!
theres this stuff called murphey's oil i think...it works really well
also pledge makes a lot of products for hardwood floors
We had our kitchen floor sanded and refinished. the contractor recommended using Windex and a slight amout of water. That was 10 years ago, and it is still perfect
Step One: sweep regularly. The grit from dirt will scratch the surface! Make sure surface dirt is gone.
Step Two: Get felt pads for the legs of chairs and stools. Get a nice area rug for under any tables that might have chairs scraping in and out (like the kitchen or dining tables) You can purchase these at a home depot type of store.
Step Three: Avoid wearing high heels in the house, don't let the dogs run in the nice part of the house...scratches!
Step Four: Wipe up any spills right away.
Step Five: Go to a hardware store and purchase their wood floor cleaning product (I like the home depot kind in a spray bottle, but there are plenty of good brands). Don't use a WET mop! Only damp mop, or rag mop. Murphy's oil is okay, but may tend to leave a residue.
Good luck
Use mild soap and water to keep it's shine. What ever you do never, and I mean never use Murphy's oil soap. I used that once on an expensive piece of furniture, and it destroyed it! It stripped the shine from the wood and I have never been able to bring the shine back up. If you want to put a good shine on it ,get a floor buffer and use Johnson's Paste Wax. Made for wood floors. Carefully though, it might make it slippery. Bye
The question is - is it real hardwood or laminate?
Either way the person who listed steps 1, 2, 3, etc gave good advice.
The only thing I would add is to damp mop with one cup each vinegar and ammonia in a gallon of water. (this mixture is great on all floors). Be certain the mop is damp and doesn't leave obvious water behind.
Hope this helps.
