What wall design should I do?
Question:I'm doing my bedroom a medium blue. I want to add designs to the wall. What should I do? It has to be pretty simple.
Answers:
Very simple and not expensive, I would check out Wallies and Wonderful Graffiti. The one has designs (wallies) and the other has quotes.
hearts, flowers, bunnies, anything!
Medium blue is pretty dark, so definitly the design should be a lighter shade to open the room up.
I really like seeing wide vertical stripes, or even the large diamond or checkerboard pattern in a color several shades lighter than the main color. All these can be done just with some painter's tape and a leveler/ruler.
It does depend on the style you're going for, really. For something classical, you could paint the look of wainscotting at the bottom.
For something more modern, I've seen circles done really neatly - just make stencils of circles of various large sizes, and get small cans of paint (either monochromatic/shades of blue, or shades of orange and maybe grey for a contrast, or white/grey, or some mix therein). This can be done with any shape, but geometric shapes are easier.
You can always do a painting technique like rag or wash or such with a lighter shade... just don't do obvious-looking sponge technique, that's really outdated. Stop by Lowes or such and they have an area in their painting department with the info on a bunch of techniques.
Hearts! You could add different colored hearts to make the room seem brighter. If that's not simple enough flowers or stars. Stars would make the room seem brighter and more like a night sky at night. Suns or moons on the wall would also make the room brighter-with more life.
a large triptych
