Can someone help me find a tree swing that doesn't cost an arm & leg!?
Question:I have been trying to find a tree swing for my grandson. He is almost 3 yrs old. I have searched the internet and ebay and the prices are so high, I can't believe it. A handyman wants too much also. I take care of him a lot and would really love to fix one. If you don't have anything nice to say about this situation that is important to me please do not respond!!

you listen to reda.
personally, i like seats, rather than tires.
get a rope, and a board, just about seat size.
drill 2 holes in the board.
have your grandson help you string the rope through the holes.
you could just tie the ends to a branch, but it'll probably last longer if you put hooks into the branch and hang it from the hooks.
that'd even provide you with the opportunity for a family tradition.
putting the swing up in the spring, and taking it down in the fall.
what more could one ask.
Easy - get an old tire for free and tie it up to a tree branch with some rope. Costs next to nothing.
How about the old fashion tire and rope. My grand kids thought I was nuts at first now they fight over swinging on it. Make sure you put holes on the flat part so it will not hold water for a breeding ground (mosquitoes). Bet you will swing on it also.
I would try a tire swing. If you have great shade trees go pick up an old tire from the city landfill or local tire place. They usually have some lying around for recycling. Then go to home depot, you will have to pay a little bit for a few yards of sturdy rope but once you do you should have a great tree tire swing.
My greatest childhood memory...(well minus Disney and that kinda stuff) was one day my Grandpa and I went to the junk yard, and we got an old tire.we took it home, and went to hang it on the tree, but we couldnt find any branchs at the right height.so we went and hung it on my front porch..that was almost 30 years ago...my daughters still loved to play on that swing when they were younger...
Its cheap and easy.we used an S attachment and drilled a think screw in the roof of the porch.
Good luck and have fun with it...it isnt how much it costs or how great it looks.but the fun you have together doing it, and the memories that you make,.
Honestly, I typed in "How to build a tree swing" at Google, and it came up with a bunch of stuff. AOL actually had the set-up I like best, but it's a little confusing. But if you know anything about knots, it may be easier than I think. I'll look those up next as I wasn't a boy scout. The webpage is located at- http://diy.aol.com/home-improvement/how-... . I hope that helps.
