Painting a gender neutral baby nursery...?
Question:We have decided on two colors we really like - a country/slate blue and a creamy coffee color (imagine a cup of coffee with lots of cream). They compliment each other very well. We would love to use both. However, due to decorating ideas we have used in other rooms of the house, we do not want to paint stripes, use a white chair rail, add wainscotting, or do an accent wall (this one is still under consideration though). What are some other ways to use BOTH colors? We love them both!
Answers:
Paint a mural. The blue is the sky, the coffee color is the ground and the mountains. You need another shade of brown, and green, for trees. You need white for the snow on the mountains.
One guy at college painted his dormroom like that. Really cool.
You could paint the room the coffee brown, but use the blue as an accent colour, and use things like blankets, or rugs or something as the blue.
simple paint one wall side coffe and the other blue .alternate them.
or choose one colour for the ceiling and othe for the walls!
Those colors sound lovely...
That's actually what my husband and I used in our bedroom... Very soothing! You could always paint the room one of the colors, and then use the other color as your primary accent color (for curtains, linens, rugs, etc.) and pick another color (I'm seeing white). Get creative!! You could even pull in a fabric that incorporates all three colors and use that as well. Congratulations on the baby!! Good luck with the nursery!
have you possibly thought of painting the walls the creamy coffee color and maybe doing big polka dots with the slate blue color? Not every where just in a few places on the walls and not small ones, you want them probably medium size. That away if you having a boy then you can decorate inside the dots, maybe with some cars or dinosaurs something like that. If its a girl you can put flowers or butterflies in the circles. I know it may sound strange but I think it would turn out okay. Its completely up to you though. Congrats on the baby :)
Studies have shown that rooms painted in blue have calming physiological effects on people of all ages. Warm colors such as red and brown have the opposite effect.
