How do you wire up a ceiling fan?color to color?

Question:

Answers:
Good advice is NOT to wire the fan up color to color. You should do a small study as to what power you have and where you need to wire this power to your new fan.

If the fan has lights you should consider how you would wire the fan/light combination.

If it is just a fan then it will be much easier.

Read the instructions first. Coming out of the ceiling are a black and white wire. If the fan does not have black and white wires they are probably smooth and ribbed. The ribbed wire goes to white and the smooth wire goes to black. The ground wire (usually bare copper) is screwed to a green screw in the ceiling.
