Are people aware of problems with folding sliding patio doors?
Question:I am thinking of getting them fitted but our builder has suggested there will be problems with them moving with the weather and no longer operating well.

Those folding/sliding patio doors do look like they give the biggest opening but there is a lot of weight and leverage on the track/runners. In the long term I wouldn't fancy the chances of trouble free operation. Generally, the less mechanical moving parts you have in things, the less aggravation you are likely to encounter in the future. I'd be inclined to stick with proven simple sliding doors Laura..
No I definitly have no problems with my patio doors!
A good tip is:- when they are sticking on the runners apply a little washing up liquid and they will run smoothly again. The main problem seems to be dust and dirt trapped in the groove of the runner., This needs to be cleaned frequently and kept free of cxxp. Go for it !!
Never mind them moving - mind and put a sticker on them so no-one walks into them.. it has been known to happen in my house all the time...
