Is it normal for a handy man to get upset over every tiny things?
Question:I and my husband hired a handyman to upgrade and remodel the bathroom that a friend of us recommended.
But I notice when he work, he'd yell a lot, kick things, toss tools around, talk to things, and swear like crazy.
One time I watched him trying to use paint roller to put ceiling popcorn on, it end up peels the ceiling dry wall off and get all over the floor. So he end up dip the roller in then rush to the ceiling to try put it on as fast as possible to keep as much as possible on.
Other time I heard a loud noise coming from outside. So I peek out of window, he was tossing the cabinet frame around and yelling at it.
Also one time he was trying to put new bathtub in. When it didn't fit perfectly, he yell things like "fit you idiot!" and other things as he try to force it in.
Also the cabinet drawer was too tight, but he say it'll loosen over time.
Is this normal or should I hire someone else?
Answers:
We had this happen to us too.
My Step dad recommended this guy and his crew.
We was building a patio and putting in a patio door.
Also was remodeling the bathroom. The guys my step dad recommended was doing the bathroom. Anyway, the worked about 2 or 3 hours a day and left leaving things undo, tools left out, etc.
Finally one of the workers from a different company, came to us and told us that this other crew had gone under our house to work on the water pipes and used Duck tape.
So we fired them, they had scratched my new tub, broke the wall and patched it with out telling us and so much more.
I put all their tools on the porch, told the guy he was fired and told him to come and get his things. He asked about his pay.
I said ummm For what?
Never heard from him again, once he got his things
So I say get someone else. The guy you have working for you sound a bit unstable though. I would be a bit worried, if you didn't pay him for the work he has done this far.

get this schizophrenic clown out of your house as soon as possible.
Most handymen are unemployable borderline criminals. That's why they work as transient handymen in the first place.
Many of them end up in jail for doing bad things.
For your Own Safety before he goes Bonkers on you, Get Rid of him..Hes not safe to have around and heaven help you if you have to tell him hes done bad work..
Well. someone who tries to put popcorn texture on with a paint roller, does not inspire confidence... I'd say he's in over his head, and you should have a serious talk with the fellow. Let him know his behavior is unacceptable, and you expec the job to be done right... if he can't handle that, tell him he can leave.
Like any service industry, yes, there are some bad apples, and they give the rest of us a bad name, but the majority of members of this service industry are very successful, very good, and we enjoy our work.
By the way, if that drawer has glides, it should operate smoothly... if it isnt, then it wasnt installed properly.
Tubs can be tricky to install... it is easy to get them in a bind...but if youre experienced, you learn ways to accomplish it. I was once contacted by a gentleman, who had spent a week of his vacation trying to remove a tub... he called me midafternoon on a Saturday, and asked me to come out. When I got there, I had the tub out, and the new one in, in less than 45 minutes. Hehehehe. The gentleman had stepped out while I 'looked it over', and when he came back in, I was finishing up. I asked if perhaps I should have made it look harder... lol.
It is always easy to find people willing to complain about things... Its common knowledge that "bad press" goes farther than "good press". Thus, you have others also complaining about problems they had with service...
In your particular description though... this behavior should not be tolerated.. it is unprofessional, and implies he does not know what he is doing. It also sounds as if he may have some problems in his life 'off the job' and is bringing it to work.. this is also unacceptable behavior. You have a right to expect professional, courteous, knowledgeable service. A service tech, or 'handyman' should always clean up after themselves, never leave their tools out, never leave a site cluttered up, and if they don't know what to do in a particular situation, they should know where to go to get help.
I'd also have a long talk with that friend who recommended this gent to you.
Good Luck
nice fun .lol .change the handyman if u r not satisfied with his work&attitude.u r yur own boss
This nut sound more like a half @sser with tools and a truck , get rid of him , hire a pro . Look in the phone book , find one who has been around awhile , check references he gives you to verify his expertise , after all your home is your biggest investment , half @ss work , or budget work will show when you least expect it ..
I am a Paint Contractor , I yell at my crew when they take short cuts or do not do things my way , I am a perfectionist , I have to be . I took over my dad's company so he could retire , our company has been around over 40 years , The comapny makes more than most lawyer offices , so I have to be strict , and demanding , I am one of the toughest painters to work for so says the reputation around here . If I have a painter show up smelling of alcohol or messing up something no matter how small I fire them on the spot. BUT , this is never done in front of the customer...there is something called "being professional "
he may be on drugs!
and he sounds inexperienced. i would never use a friends recommendation unless the person was very reputable. get him out of your home.
handymen sometimes appear to be pissed off when really there not. but if he's gone that far, fire him. haha.
