Question:how does a US 'queen' quilt size compare to a UK double bed size, are they the same?

My mom says "if a double bed is the same size as 2 twins together then they're the same as a queen, if it's the same as 1 & 1/2 twins then it's the same as a full, if it's 2 & 1/2 twins then it's a king" I'm hoping you know how big a twin size bed is other wise none of what I just said will make any sense.
No I,m almost sure a queen is bigger than a double. They usually give the actual sizes somewhere on the packet though
We have double then king then queen which is the biggest.
super king will be bigger than king. Super king is available in some stores uk, but queen will be difficult to obtain, either in duvet, or duvet cover.
