What are the minimum lux required for a house?

Question:what are the minimum light intensity required for various rooms in a house, eg. dinning room, dressing room, bed room, kitchen etc. and according to which standard?

Answers:
The best lighting design is very flexible. I recommend dimmers where ever possible. The intensity you require always depends on the task and will be affected not only by the installed wattage/lux, but also by the reflectivity of surfaces (dark painted rooms may need more) and use (reading areas need more). In general, I have seen 4 Watts per square foot used for general lighting, but as we now have more efficient bulbs that were used with that standard, you should be able to do with less.

As I said at the start, I prefer dimmers-so start with what pleases to start, and dim it for other uses.
