How much to tip appliance delivery people?

Question:I am having a washer, dryer, and range delivered today. What is the customary tip for the delivery and set up people? They are also hauling old appliances away. Thanks!

Answers:
we always tip , your right. Give them $5 each if there are 4 or more, $10 if there are only two, they will be grateful to get it. My mother always offered cold beer to movers and the like. Kindness and thoughtfulness isn't what it used to be is it?

honestly, I have never heard of anyone tipping an appliance delivery person ..no one I know has ever done it...Just be nice to them and maybe offer them something to drink.
Are you serious! what is it about americans that feel they have to tip everybody!
In Australia, we don't leave tips!
You've already paid for the items!
Why pay again?
I usually do about 5% of the overall cost of the item that they are delivering.

If you must tip (which I don't think you should feel obligated to, they get paid a wage for the job) it should be $5-$10.

I only tip waiters and waitresses, as they are paid less than minimum wage on the expectation they will be tipped.

To Edna: 5%!?!? On my washer/dryer that would be $30!
I'd say 10 dollars. I had my refigerator and dishwater replaced, the delivery guy took away the old, and installed the new, including the water lines. Tipped him $10
When we had a new washer and dryer delivered I tried to tip the delivery men and they told me they couldn't take tips. Company policy. They were just doing their job.
Nothing!
They are getting paid by the hour to do their job. They are not waitresses getting below minimum wage.
I wonder why tipping seems to be the norm? Many people pay the kids that push the cart with their groceries out to their car and I just don't get that. They ARE getting paid already, so why the necessity of tipping? With that said, we tipped the people that delivered our appliances from Sears and after they had left, we discovered one of our garage door remote openers was missing. They were the ONLY people to go through the garage and into the house and it never turned up. Now I wish we had NOT tipped them. I don't think it's necessary. Waiters and waitresses, yes, because it's customary and the work fits the pay and you can pay according to how good the service is. But delivery people? They bring it in, they take something out, no level of "extra" is really involved in my opinion. Come to think of it though, we tip pizza delivery people every time. Not sure why though, as they get paid too by their employer plus we often pay a delivery charge as part of the cost. Tipping is a bit overdone I think.
I personally would never tip a delivery person!! they are just doing their job....if you want, you could call the store, ask for their manager, and compliment them on the job they did, but I think tipping is out of the question!! or offer them something to drink as someone else said!!
