I need ideas for a cheap way to redo my bathroom??
Question:My toliet and bathtub are a pale peachy color that i hate... I have tiles on all my walls...can i take them down?? Any ideas on ways to improve...its old looking,,,i hate it help me?
Answers:
The bathroom is actually the most expensive room to remodle after the kitchen.
If you hate the color of your toilet, you can buy a new one for under 100.00 but you get what you pay for, remember that.
If you cant afford a new tub, you can paint it white with porcelein paint, but you have to be really really careful or it is so obvious.
The tile can be removed, but it is a real pain to do, I would advise getting some fun decals and sticking them to random tiles. If you take off your tiles you have to remove the old glue and caulk from the walls and then use a few coats of Killz to prime the walls before painting. You could panel, but that tends to warp in humid environments.
Replacing your fixtures might be the cheapest way for a quick update.
Good luck on your project!
This is tough to answer without knowing your budget for the remodeling.
Yes, you can remove tile and re-tile. That is the easy answer (but the more costly).
Get a color wheel from a local art supply place (or just go to the paint store) and plan out a color scheme.
For deep contrast, you can use chocolate walls and soft furnishings (shower curtain, towels, etc) to tone down the peach. If this is too dark a choice, look at the color wheel and decide if you wish to have a complementary color (greens/blues depending upon your shade of peace) or if you want to "embrace your peachness" and use analogous colors (pinks, reds) to enhance the peace color.
Atlanta is famously known for many peach/green/cream color combinations.
Best of luck!
PS... you can also get tile paint...takes a lot of prep, but if you wish to paint accent tiles in a random pattern or a border accent, this would be a much less expensive way to go about it.
We just redid a bathroom this weekend in our house...the toilet and the bathtub were luckily white, but we had an almond colored tile around the walls.a toilet costs nothing if you want to get a new one ($100 or lower) and I think they make paint if the tub is iron.we didn't want to take down the tile off of the wall (it covered half) so we painted the wall to a color that blended well (dark brown) and got a shower curtain that blended all of the colors (it was borwn tan like the almond and turqoise)..we replaced the vanity and the faucet as well as the light fixtures and painted the trim white and it cost us around $300 and it looks fresh, updated and like a new bathroom..
www.bksgiftsnmore.com is a great site for not only ideas but the products too, plus I think they give you a free $10 gift card to get you started!
