What is the best way to remove paint from wood?

Question:Using stripper just isnt working well, have any other ideas?

Answers:
The paint has penetrated the wood and the only way to get to bare wood is sand the wood below the penetrated paint. Use stripper to get the paint piled up on top of the wood first. By the way, follow the instructions on the stripper to the letter. Most I've seen say to lay the stripper on the paint in one direction only--don't brush back and forth. As you lay the stripper on the paint it begins softening the paint immediately and when you brush back over that area you pull the paint worked loose back into the stripper and dilute it. Also wait until the stripper does it's work. The stripper doesn't dissolve the paint, it softens it allowing you to scrape or brush it off the wood. It make take more than one attempt to remove the old paint. After you have got as much as you can off, clean off the stripper (choose a water wash), let dry and sand with approperate sandpaper.

Hot air gun?
sand paper
Buy this stuff called goof-off. I got paint all over a wooden chair and goof-off took it right off. It's sold at most home improvement stores and it's really a great product.
Look into having it professionally stripped. You can get it "dipped" or other methods that will do a much better job than you could possibly DIY. If you don't know what you're doing, trying to strip furniture yourself is one way to easily ruin a piece of nice furniture.

Good luck and best wishes.
