Do you need to use primer when painting the outside of the house?

Question:1st time painting since built in 1997 (10 years ago)

Answers:
You should prime and here is why. Primer bonds to the old ( cleaned ) surface. Have your primer tinted by the paint dept. 50% of what your new color will be. Wait 24hrs then paint it the primary color, trim it with a statin finish for distinction.

I would!
it can help the new paint cover the old but most of the time people don't primer a house.
if it is currently a darker color it is in your best interest.primer is cheaper then house paint..and if you dont prime you will only have to use more coats of the paint...if it is a light color you will prob be ok..your best bet is to ask at the paint store and they can tell you exactly what you should do for the kind of house paint you are buying..anything worth doing is worth doing right the first time...you will get the most years out of your paint that way.
of course
