Interior decorating help?

Question:I have a gorgeous curtain rod that I used to use with my window treatment however now Im installing vertical blinds in the window instead and have no use for the rod. I really dont just want to put it in storage, does anyone have some innovative ideas of what to do with a curtain rod besides using it for curtains? (My room is the only room the rod matches so I cant use it elsewhere either.) Come on .. I know theres some Martha's out there that can help me out!

Answers:
Mount the curtain rod on the wall above your bed, and drape fabric loosely on it to create a soft beautiful headboard. Something like this:

Or modify this http://www.dominomag.com/galleries/rooms... or this http://www.dominomag.com/galleries/rooms... to create a canopy curtain. Could you get 2 more of these rods? Or you could just use on at the head of the bed. Mount them on the ceiling and drape the fabric over them. It will give you a 4 poster bed look, without actually having a 4 poster bed.

You could also just leave the curtain rod up after you have the vertical blind es installed and get a sheer or decorative curtain for it. If you want light but you want it to be softer than vertical blindes allow for you could pull the sheer drapes.

Good luck! Hope I helped a bit!

Hang the rod horizontally across a wall.
Purchase some rings with clasps on them and hang some of your favorite photos or kids artwork from them.
Can you use it to put a valance over the top of the vertical blinds? Hang it higher and make it stick out far enough not to interfere with the blinds. The little valance that comes with vertical blinds is usually pretty unattractive, so I try to cover it up with a valance anyway. Depending on your decor, I wouldn't necessarily use a gathered valance, but someting more tailored, maybe with a few pleats might work. I saw a lot of surprisingly nice ones at Lowes the other day.
They have rings that have 'clips' on them. Get a set of those and you can do a couple of things... one- if you have a nice quilt, blanket, throw - you can Hang it from your rod- as a focal point in the room. Two- you can take wide ribbon and make a loop on one end, put it on the rod and attach photos- or even lightweight picture frames. Make several strands hanging down- all even or different lengths. not sure what 'theme' you have going on in this room... if there is a doorway- like to the dining room etc. you can put it over the doorway. Swag curtians back to the sides with tiebacks. or hang beaded curtains from it. If it's a bedroom- you can attach it above the bed... and let lace hang from it. And if something looks 'out of place' - like a door that leads nowhere- or a place you think a window would go- put it there. leave the 'curtains' closed and no one will be the wiser.
~ stand it up in the corner of you room and use it as a clothes hanger for your dressing gown or something
~ stand it up against something and wrap fairy lights or flowers around it

hmmm hard to think of much!! still hope you like my ideas xx
