Please help me decorate my boutqiue...?
Question:Hi,
I will be opening my boutique in a new location soon and would love to hear suggestions regarding the décor. Can you please share with me any color schemes or decorating ideas that you may think of or perhaps something you have seen at your favorite boutique that you really like. Any suggestions would be great with regards to the use of color, draperies, layout, store fixtures and window displays.

Here is some information if it helps. My boutique carries handbags in three price points (high ~$150-300, mid ~$60 & low ~$35) and higher end jewelry (Tarina Tarantino, Kidada and Disney Couture) and tees (Junk Food, Doe and Disney Couture). The typical shoppers are women between 20-40 years old so I would like to try to appeal to this span of ages.

Thank you so much for your time and suggestions!!

I shop at a boutique near me that has a wonderful display. If you have the space it may be nice. They used a patio umbrella (with a wooden frame) and removed the fabric. Then she wound white lights and vines around to re-create the canopy. She uses this as a place from which to hang items. It looks really cool. It sits through the center of a small table on which she displays smaller items. It's really cool.
Another boutique near me (Santa Barbara area) has an entire display like a sushi bar. T-shirts are rolled and placed in take out boxes with chopsticks sticking out the side. Jewelry is placed on sushi plates. I'm not sure how this would work with purses, though.
Just be sure that you display at least some of your less expensive merchandise up front. When I'm trying to shop on a budget, I will often walk into a store and look at one or two items to determine whether or not the store is too pricey. If you have only higher end stuff up front you may lose some customers with the shallower pockets.
Best wishes!
i think bright colors would look excellent. fun colors. orange and pink go great together. another good color combo is green and blue. if u use fun colors it will appeal to the buyers.
As an interior design student (and someone in your boutiques demographic) I thick you could use a scheme that was dramaic, bold and feminine. My suggestion would be something that felt very french and contemporary.
As far as colors go something of meduim to dark value (a deep lavender would be beautiful) with black and white accents. Its very dramatic and now. You could also use damask accents (very IN right now!). If you're not into using a purple hue a blue or magenta could be beautiful with the black and white scheme as well. Old french furniture painted black would be lovely as display tables, etc.
Good luck!
I think a couple of colours would go great...taking a color cue or two from the Disney Tinkerbell watch I'm wearing...
how about a light spring green for the walls, a light french blue for the walls and a whisper pink for a few accents...the colours are girlish with out being juvenile and would complement a lot of the colours used in Disney products and similar...
without seeing the space, it's really hard to know...
I am 34, and these are are colours that really appeal to me, the brands you mentioned are right up my alley! And the styles are in keeping with what me and my friends wear...
Where is your store? We all wanna go there!
