Room decorating?

Question:Anyone have some good ideas on how to inexpensively change an ordinary room into a hawaiian themed room? Thanks!

Answers:
You can most definitely change an ordinary room into a theme - and I think a "Hawaiian" themed room can be done inexpensively if you just know how to buy and what you have already to use!

To first start decorating your room - you must first visualize what you think "the perfect" view of Hawaii for you would be. That might include a lot of beach and surf related memorabilia - which I may add is perfect if you are on a budget! The key in Hawaiian rooms is creating a flowing informal atmosphere. Stay within the color scheme you have chosen and get creative - so you may want to use a lot of floral colors! ex [ for the bedspreads ]. Perhaps you can go to a local Target or Walmart because they usually have a lot of inexpensive, yet tasteful bedspreads/sheets to match your theme! [Which will be at little cost to you]

You want your room to feel relaxed, so make sure that you don't over-do it. Perhaps adding a surf board on the wall would be a good touch, or even a different color rug, just making sure that the colors are vibrant enough to stand out!

Another cute idea, if you are concerned with small details of the room would be to add some seashells or rocks in maybe a glass container that you can purchase and minimal cost! This will create that whole island feel! Just remember use a lot of pinks, reds, and oranges to create that whole look and have fun with it. Also, a good idea would be to lie some beach towels around , and for furniture to put a small sitting beach chair!

Hope I helped you!
Good Luck, it seems like a good idea!

oriental trade company has lots of hawaiian/luau themed items for dirt cheap.
Try a party store...especially in the summer. They have inexpensive decor like that. Just make sure to avoid the tacky stuff!! Or try Garden Ridge.
See what the room looks like in this picture. Just adding some bright blue or aqua accents or sea shells along with a bed spread, some wall accessories and an area rug. A lot of it you can find at Target or goodwill stores, or better yet a place like Michaels (the craft store).

Without painting or buying furniture look at accessories that imply a Hawaiian theme.
pbteen.com has some hawiian stuff in their sale section! Very very cute!
