What should I do with an open space beside the tub in the bathroom?

Question:Parallel to and behind the tub is this triangular 4 ft deep ~5 ft wide space. The "floor" in that area is the height of the tub. The "floor" and walls of the area are tiled up to 3 feet heigh. I have no clue what to do with this space. It's only accessible through the tub, so I'm not sure how to make it useful. I'd appreciate any ideas.

Answers:
If I understand your description this space is like a hole and not like a shelf. If so, I would use a tall plant with up lighting (if an outlet is available) or candles holders of different heights grouped together. You could also put a decorative basket on a stand to fill with fancy soaps. Might also hang curtins to cover the walls from the ceiling down and use one of the above.

A Dining table.
How about putting some bath salts, bubble bath and such there? Maybe an assortment of those kinds of things, plus some candles would look nice and be handy for those long soaks in the tub.
Candles, Candles, Candles.
How about a nice wicker stool in there, if you cant sit on it , you can lay towels on it and other bath stuff. You could have selves built from the floor to the ceiling -- make the bottom space a cubiclw ith hidden latch -- a cool hiding place for many personal items !
I say a heated towel rack!
There are several types of bathroom shelving that you could put there. A towel rack would also be perfect.

Plants or topiaries, either real or artificial, would really liven up the area, too.
